Amias Channer – Curriculum Vitae I am looking for a role where I can use my programming, analysis and sysadmin skills with Linux / Open source software in a structured environment. Over the last twelve years I have worked for a wide range of internet focused companies. My work has ranged straight forward software development on a project basis to full life cycle deployment of an appliance, to maximising in house websites. When I started working with the internet it was so new it was common to do a bit of both hardware and software so I have never had a problem configuring and building new servers as well as writing and deploying the code to run on them . I've worked in agencies, for my own company, freelance and full-time, so am very used to communicating my ideas to customers , managers and developers alike. I am keen advocate of open-source technologies and advise local community groups on IT issues . I am open to offers of fulltime work on-site but I definitely prefer to work at home or part-time , I find I am far more effective this way as I am quite unusual person and my talents are better used this way . Teamrubber - 2007 I worked closely with the management and developers to specify and build an innovative high performance object relational mapper for their viral marketing promotion system. Coexist - 2008 Coexist is a CIC formed to manage Hamilton house , a vast office space in the heart of Bristol which is being sustainably redeveloped by the community. I was asked to organise all things internet which included sourcing a high speed wireless link , re-provisioning the dilapidated network infrastructure on a minuscule budget and managing the companies internet resources. Linux Format - Ongoing When not working full-time I write articles for Linux Format magazine , I wrote a recent feature about building an open source studio and have also written on Parrot and XDMCP Runbox – 2008/9 I have worked remotely with Runbox over the last few years developing advanced search functionality for their email hosting service. I have also configured and designed a powerful deployment system which allows for comprehensive package management of in house code using standard Debian tools.
